• Which devices require a computer block?

A computer measurement block is mandatory in the "Thermal effects" set. That is caused by impossibility to observe graphically the variations of temperature during the experiment holding.
The "Demonstrational mechanics" set can be utilized with a computer block and an electronic stop-watch both. However, the computer block is recommended to use because the appropriate software provides graphical presentation of velocity and acceleration. Usage of the stop-watch leads to great number of calculations and time losses.
By all means, all the sensors are connected to computer measurement block.

• Where can I find basic features of sensors?

• Can I apply self-contained instruments for home usage?

By all means, you can. Please take note that the measurement tools are not intended for everyday usage. Some of the (pH sensor, for example) require regular technical service. The others require special measurement techniques. The price of such any device depends on all these factors. Probably, some everyday usage devices available will suit your needs.

• Meanwhile a computer interface interface block powered on and connected to computer, the program says it can not be found. What’s wrong?

If you have windows 98 installed and the experiment can not be held, then follow the instructions below:

1. Make sure that the measurement block is connected to computer via COM1...COM4 interface ports. Make sure that the measurement block is powered on.
2. Run the "l-check.exe" service program. If the measurement block can not be founf still, you should check your BIOS settings.
3. Reboot computer and enter the BIOS by pressing "Del" button during boot. Open the "Power management setup" section and disable the "ACPI function" feature. Now you may save your custom BIOS settings by pressng the f10 button.
   If Windows needs to update several components you should follow the instructions on screen. Probably you will need an installation CD.
4. Run the "l-check.exe" program and make sure that the measurement block is found and a COM-port is assigned to it.
